Leaving Iowa premiered at Jeff Daniels' Purple Rose Theatre in Michigan where it broke box office records. It then ran for over a year at The Royal George Theatre in Chicago and was subsequently honored with awards with its West Coast premiere at the Laguna Playhouse. Since then, Leaving Iowa has become a phenomenally successful show with hundreds of critically acclaimed, sold-out productions all over the country. CAT is thrilled to produce the Richmond premiere of this family friendly, charming, and funny show.

Director Amy Berlin says, "This play has so many moments that seem lifted exactly from my childhood, and Tim Clue and Spike Manton's beautiful script weaves these memories into hilarious, and ultimately touching, vignettes. Plus, Leaving Iowa has the structure I am drawn to as a director: non-linear storytelling (the play jumps back and forth in time and tells the story in a very theatrical manner), actors playing multiple characters (SO many costumes and wigs!!), hilarious comedy, and just a little bit of magic."

Director Amy Berlin has chosen the following cast for Leaving Iowa:

Don: Chandler Hubbard

Sis: Jessica Stith

Mom: Laurie Follmer

Dad: Ray Green

Multi Woman: Kathy Parker

Multi Man: Tyler Simpson

Don't Miss CAT's 50th Anniversary Reunion Picnic

Come and enjoy the CAT 50th Anniversary Reunion Picnic on Saturday, April 26 from 12:30 until 3:00 p.m. at CAT.  The picnic is for anyone who has ever been a part of the CAT family from actor to volunteer to designer to patron and more.

The picnic will also be a great opportunity for those who wish to volunteer to get to know more about CAT.  The event is free, but everyone is asked to either bring their own picnic or a dish to share.  CAT will provide paper products, water and soft drinks and dessert.  Memorabilia from CAT’s first 50 years will be on display.

There will be CAT t-shirts for sale and a 50/50 auction.  The picnic will be on the CAT lawn, so bring chairs or blankets to sit on.
